Angeles was a perfect city for a thief, not too big and obviously the law enforcement had lowered their standards over the years. Only problem, everyone was poor and there was barely something worth stealing. It was one huge dump and was the first city that was going to crash and burn when the time finally came. It smelled like sin and the noises were too much for even a half deaf wolf to handle. Mara should have been the first one to high tail it out of there, her hearing was beyond exceptional but alas she had stayed. The hunters were on the rise now and running seemed like an everyday option. The bloody place had no room to fight or flee, only flee or get shot. She preferred to have no bullet holes anywhere on her body so for the past few days she had turned into the great escapist and disappeared. But now, she was tired of hiding so when they came a shooting she would stand and fight. She wasn’t the type to run anyways. Perhaps she was a fool but at least not a coward too. “What are you, a dog or a rat?” Mara asked another thief that had helped her other occasions. It was only a boy several years younger than she. He and another younger girl who seemed hardly old enough to be on her own, that is. But the girl cried too much, she was a cat actually. The boy was a dog, a cowardly excuse for one. He sighed, head down turned before shaking his head. “It’s just too risky I tell ya, we can’t continue to steal from soldiers. I don’t wanna get shot. I guess Chubbs was right in leaving.” Chubbs was a fat little bugger of a thief that deserted them to eat trash. She didn’t think that the boy would be the same, she had hope in him at first. ”Fine, I’ll find someone else or better yet do it all by myself and have all the food for myself.” Mara growled teasingly before turned and clambering up the wall to the roof of the house. She wasn’t sure what she was going to do since the job was definitely not a solo mission. She eventually sat and awaited an idea to pop into her head. ”Oh who am I kidding, even I can’t do it alone.” She sighed but went along anyways, what was life without a little risk? She was hungry and was gonna get what she deserved from those fat porkers called soldiers. Lazy asses.

The day had been a waste. Nothing had been found or accomplished. The wolf he hunted was not in this forsaken city, and for some reason Adam Kohaku was relieved that he had not found her. This was one wolf he did not want to wrap up and give to Lord Darcia.
The wolf hunter found himself outside of one of the taverns he often frequented when he was in Ángeles Caídosse City. The bar was often quiet and filled with travelers just passing by. The usuals were an older generation of men who sat in one of the corners, drinking beer and playing poker. When Adam was wanting to distract his mind away from his hardships, the bar served as a cheap getaway.
The long haired Kohaku leaned against one of the outer walls of the building, deciding whether or not he wanted to get in. He could have done another sweep of the city, but his mood was rather low. A few beers could relax the tension in his shoulders.
The noble had journeyed throughout the major cities looking for the black wolf with the blue noble markings. He had had no luck thus far. How many wolves had he seen that were not her? So very many, and many of those had met their end to his katanas.

Mara was well aware of the hunters that were growing within the world and wolves were a dying race. She wondered if her old pack had died from hunters or their own greed. She was raised in a thieve's pack and they all wanted to be leader. That was the end of them.
She had dealt with many hunters in her day but she was not a killer and so everyone was left unconcious. That day would come though when her teeth would meet man's cruel blood. She would pity that day greatly.
One moment she was creeping into a soldier quartiers and the next she was running from a load of them piling after her. She had the sack of food and money she wanted but now her only objective was getting away. Unlike the soldiers, she flew up the walls of the buildings and balanced perfectly as she ran over the roof tops and jumped over the wall to a safe zone, she couldn't hear them behind her and so her shoulders finally relaxed. So much for doing it stealthily.

There was a loud commotion coming from just up the street. The hunter’s dark blue eyes shifted quickly to see soldiers moving about on the street as if searching for someone. They looked dazed and confused and obvious lost. Whatever had peaked their interested had vanished rather suddenly, and now the soldiers were left to try and solve the puzzle.
Adam’s eyes moved quickly to peer up at a rooftop. A girl was there, running quickly away from the direction the soldiers were in. She was no girl, however, and the more the hunter watched her movements the more her disguise disappeared. No ordinary girl could move like this one did. This was a wolf.
A sigh passed through the long haired hunter’s mouth as he shook his head slightly. His alcohol would have to wait for him. Soldiers were no good at catching a wolf. They were too loud and too ignorant to catch any animal. No, the hunter would rush after the girl.
The Kohaku moved quickly as he rushed across the street to an alleyway. Up a broken ladder alongside a building he went to gain access to the rooftops. When Adam reached the roofs, the girl was still in sight. The hunter quickly went after her.
Damn wolves never could give him a break.

How easy and yet so annoying, Mara growled below her breath searching the ground for the guards who stood around like idiotic sheep. She smiled to herself as she ran but something smelled strange. No, she wasn't the best at that sense but hearing was her gift. She could hear the footsteps like a deer in the woods. A man had found his way onto the rooftops and was heading her way. Something was strange as too him, he was no guard chasing her for the loot.
She wondered if she had hit the jackpot and a real enemy was after her. She was smarter than most wolves but running didn't seem like much an option despite how fast she was. All hunters never gave up, the bloody idiots had no life outside of of mopping up another wolf corpse. She would rather throw herself to the guards than die at the hands of a hunter. Her blood ran cold, icy as she gazed upon her pursuer and stopped.
She turned to face him, "Can't say i disagree with boys following me but this is alittle embarrassing. So why, may i ask, are you following me? If you want food so badly that your trying to steal it from me, well you could have just asked." Her lips curled into a smirk as she kept her distance. Her eyes constantly moved, from possible escape paths. After all, this guy could have a gun and despite being able to take a bullet or two she didn't want the trouble.
Part one, Attempting innocence. It was good being a girl at times, harder to believe that a young girl was a wolf. She wasn't sure if this guy could completely see through her facade.

The hunter was not surprised by the girl’s reaction. He was not surprised by how she played down what she was doing. This one was no common human thief. Just a wolf in disguise trying to get away as being a human girl.
How many times had he heard similar lines? Quite a few times. However, when most wolves say Adam or any of the Kohakus, they went running in the opposite direction rather frantically. The family had a bad reputation for being quite deadly in more ways than one. This girl seemed not to recognize Adam’s face, and this was fine by the hunter. He hated being recognized by these creatures d being almost as much as he hated being misidentified as a woman.
“I don’t need your stolen food,” the wolf hunter responded in his deep and low voice. “Either you do not know me, or you are trying to play me for the fool. Either way, you will learn soon enough. I know that you are a wolf, so cut the charade.”
Adam did not hate wolves. His fights were not ones of hatred. This was just his job, and he preformed wonderfully. The more wolves he killed, the happier Lord Darcia was.

So she was right, a hunter. Obviously a good one from the way he was playing with his words. She hadn't seen him before because on usual occassions she was stealthier and even hunters overlooked the cunning wolf. She smiled now, the slight and sly twist of her lips making her face seem almost fox like.
"Don't act so high and mighty boy or you might just get nipped in the butt. Don't understand what all the fuss is about you don't seem like the vengeful so why hunt little old me and find some more wicked creatures to kill?" She said and her eyes narrowed into slits. She took a step back as extra precaution mapping out her escape root incase things didn't go as planned.
She was faster than most wolves and would surely outpace the boy if the time came. Her eyes searched his features and every little movement from the slight breaths leaving his lips to the twitch of his hands.

Adam shook his head slightly. This wolf seemed not to understand the role of the hunter, especially the role of a Darcia hunter. In the eyes of the nobles, wolves were great possessions both alive and dead. Wolves were the ones who could unlock the noble’s so called paradise. So, the Kohaku killed for Lord Darcia and was given money and a comfortable enough life.
“What more wicked creatures are there to kill?” the hunter questioned. “Truly, the most wicked creatures are nobles and humans, but killing them do not bring in money. If you kill a human or a noble, all you get is more trouble. Wolves are just animals much like humans, but Darcia pays me heavily enough when I kill a wolf. This is but a job.”
Since the wolf he sought out was not in this city, he would just have to make his time useful. If he did not kill the wolf in front of him, at least he was getting more practice than sitting around in a bar drinking beer all night.
The wolf hunter unsheathed one of his blades, letting it hang at his side as his dark eyes observed the wolf. “You can fight me with dignity or run like a coward. Either way, I will get you.”

She smiled now, the wolf visible in her eyes now. Her facade seemed to fall in this grin. "You've got me all wrong if you think i'd die by such a pathetic whelp." She had come for food and had found a hunter. Her eyes grazed across the katana. She was not the upperhand in this fight and she had others to feed even if half of them had abandoned her. She would be ignorant to forget them and face this man and wasn't stupid to think she could easily beat him.
Something cold and cruel rumbled in her heart, she was raised by murderers and thieves but she herself was not a killer. She wasn't a coward though but the trick was determining which meant more. "You are sick and twisted as the lot of them, money doesn't matter but none of you damn whelps can see that. You don't know how much i would like to rip out your furless throat but i've got others to feed. Plus i don't like to kill, i'll let your own greed destroy yourself."
She took a step not away but towards him before smiling and leaping off the building into the alley ways. She loved her share of games.

Wolves always talked in such ways to hunters, of course. Yet, the wolves were always the ones running away. They were always the ones hiding, and the ones that ended up dead at the side of the road. The hunter was not bothered by the wolf’s words. He was quite use to such attitude directed towards him. Some would laugh and insult him, but why care about the words of a wolf?
They also knew nothing of what is was truly like to be human, and to say that money doesn’t matter was a laughable statement. Money mattered in the world of the humans. Money was what bought the food and what protected the cities. Money kept the human world running, and without it nothing seemed to move.
The Kohaku had had his fair share of money troubles. He had lived on the streets for the majority of his life. He had fought his way through troubles only some could imagine. Adam was not greedy; he just knew when he had something good on his plate.
Adam sheathed his katana before quickly running after the wolf. He followed her movements with all the ease a human could do. Of course, he had to use a fire escape, but his movements were swift and he soon found himself running after her down the alleyways.
